Course Introduction:

Nothing in organizations can be accomplished without the leadership of people in those organizations. Even companies with the best products and services must have strong leaders to help their organization become successful. Throughout your program thus far, you've learned the many concepts required for a business to be successful. This course will address applying leadership principles to the concepts you've studied throughout your program. Leadership is not the management of day-to-day tasks but instead is focused on higher-level skills that can help employees and the organization succeed. This course will focus on the basics of leadership, from leadership theories to the skills leaders must possess to give context to the meaning of leadership. Then, the second half of the course will focus on how you can self-assess your leadership skills and plan actions you can take now to ensure you are the best leader possible.

Course Learning Objectives:
  • Analyze the differences between various leadership and management theories, such as transactional and transformational leadership;
  • Demonstrate the traits and skills of an effective leader, such as emotional intelligence, conflict management skills, communication skills, and critical thinking;
  • Create a plan to manage challenges that organizational leaders must handle, such as team dysfunction and change management; and
  • Create plans to develop yourself as a leader by evaluating your own leadership potential.
