Master's of Science in Marketing (MMKT)

A tuition-free, self-paced 30-credit program equipping students with analytical and creative techniques to discover customer insights, create customer value, and develop marketing strategies that succeed in the global marketplace.

To succeed in today's marketplace, organizations need deep insights into their customers' hearts and minds while developing strategies to leverage these insights to maximize customer value. Marketers need to know how to blend cutting-edge technologies with digital marketing strategies to drive business success.

The demand is strong and growing for marketing managers who have the advanced skills needed to build long-term customer relationships. The Saylor University MMKT is a 30-credit program providing students with the skill sets and competencies to use analytical and creative techniques to discover customer insights and develop executable traditional and digital marketing strategies.

Program Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this MMKT program will be able to:

  • Apply the modern suite of advanced marketing tools to maximize customer value and develop profitable strategies.
  • Evaluate integrated and aligned strategies for maximizing both internal and external opportunities through marketing theory and practices.
  • Analyze both quantitative and qualitative information to better inform strategy and find solutions for various marketing challenges.
  • Develop marketing strategies suitable for consumer, business, government, and not-for-profit marketing and for global scalability.
  • Evaluate successful brand messaging and communications by using analytics, target market identification, marketing tools, and consumer behavior.
  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to align marketing plans to the strategic goals of an organization.
  • Synthesize information through diverse mediums to inform, negotiate, and persuade internal and external stakeholders.

Admission Requirements

There are no standardized test requirements. To be accepted into the MMKT program, applicants must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Proficiency in English: All students must demonstrate college-level English reading and writing proficiency. Non-native English speakers may be required to complete Saylor's ESL courses prior to acceptance.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Residency Requirement: Applicants must reside in the US state of Florida or outside the United States and its territories. Residents of other US states or territories, and residents of Iran, Syria, Crimea, Cuba, or North Korea are not currently eligible.
  • Entrance Exam: Students must successfully complete the MMKT Entrance Exam with a minimum score of 80%. Study materials including a preparation course are available.
  • Enrollment Agreement: Students must complete the MMKT Enrollment Agreement upon achieving the required score on the entrance exam.

Pre-Entry Course Requirements

All students must first complete the entrance exam. Students must also complete the enrollment agreement including official proof of identity and a transcript of an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution for review and approval prior to enrollment. There are no waivers available for these requirements.

Application and Enrollment Process

Upon successful completion of the entrance exam and prerequisites, students may register within 90 days by completing the online enrollment agreement, including official proof of identity and a transcript of an earned bachelor's degree. Students will be promptly notified after review and approval, and can then begin the program.

Program Structure

Step 1

Foundational Courses

These two courses provide the foundational knowledge needed to succeed in the core MMKT courses:

  • MMKT601: Marketing Management
  • MMKT602: Consumer Behavior

MMKT601 and MMKT602 must be completed in order before moving on to core courses.

Step 2

Core Courses

After completing the foundational courses, take the following in any order:

  • MMKT603: Brand Management
  • MMKT604: Digital Marketing and Advertising
  • MMKT605: Sales Management
  • MMKT606: International Marketing
  • MMKT607: Business Intelligence and Analytics
  • MMKT608: Data-Driven Communications
  • MMKT609: Data-Driven Decision-Making

Step 3

Capstone Course

Complete the capstone course after all core courses:

  • MMKT610: Marketing Research, Strategy, and Application

This course integrates all previous learning into a final examination of real-world marketing challenges.

Students must complete all MMKT courses with a minimum score of 80% to earn the MS in Marketing degree.

All final exams must be taken in a proctored environment through SmarterProctoring. Each session costs $5.00, and each course requires one proctored exam.

  2. Once logged in, select the Enroll in a Degree Program link from the banner or go to the Program Catalogue.
  3. Choose the MMKT Prerequisites program (Pre-MMKT).
  4. Select the Sign Up button.
